The Apple II (tailored as apple ][) is an 8-bit home computer and one of the first highly successful off-the-peg microcomputer products, designed mainly by Steve Wozniak, manufactured by Apple Computer  and introduced in 1977.

In 2013, after more than 35 years of the Apple II released, the original Apple DOS source code can be appreciated at the Computer History Museum and its website.
